- Acapulco takes the second place on the list. The city reported 1,170 murders for 818,853 inhabitants. For years Acapulco was a popular destination in Mexico because of its beaches, but violence between drug carters and criminal bands have affected tourism. "Measures to promote tourism need to be accompanied with more security to be congruent," said Jose Zedao, president off the College of Tourism Agents. - Caracas, Venezuela took third place on the list. The council reported 3,862 homicides per 3,247,971 inhabitants. According to the article published by El Mundo last year, only eight of 100 crimes that occurr in Venezuela are punished. - The Federal District in Francisco Morazan in Honduras takes fourth place. There are 1,1149 muders per 1,126,534 inhabitants. The authorities talked about an epidemic of violence, according to an article published by El Heraldo. - The Venezuelan city of Barquisimeto is also among the most dangerous. The report states there were 804 homicides for 1,120,718 inhabitants. For th epast years, Venezuela has been prominent in the most dangerous countries in the world. In 2011, the Global Study on Homicide, published by the UN, placed Venezuela as the South American country with the highest rate and the fourth in America behind Honduras, El Salvador and Jamaica.
