- No marathon would be complete without a little fun and the Nike Expotique welcomed runners, families, and locals to check out the latest from Paul Mitchell, Lite Pome, Gatorade, Neutrogena, Cole Haan and, of course, Nike. From hair styling to facials, from bra fittings to the Nike+ Sportwatch demos, this expotique was truly a wonderland for all to see. Photo: Marilyn Dominguez
- Footwear trials were just one of the many activities at the Nike Expotique and runners were elated. A wall displayed the most comfortable, probably the most colorful, collection of Nike Lunarglide+ 3 running shoes. Definitely drool-worthy for those who run, walk, or simply need to move. - The Nike Lunarglide+ 3 wall practically glowed with the shoes on display. From funky to classic, we got snapshots of all the sneakers. This is just one of our favorites. It's quite difficult to pick one! Photo: Marilyn Dominguez
- Although samples, merchandise, and freebies caught our attention at the Nike Expotique, it was the Run the Runway event that got the crowd going.Ladies from all over the country submitted their photos showing of their Nike style and 50 were selected to Run The Runway in San Francisco's Union Square. - The ladies strutted their stuff while locals watched on the sidelines with their phones in hand. In Nike gear from head to toe, the models of all shapes and sizes jumped, walked, and even flipped to win votes sent via text to the judges. Photo: Marilyn Dominguez
- The winner of the event took home all the Nike wardrobe featured on the runway, but the fun didn't stop there. One fan in the stands was selected for a makeover and the transformation was incredible. Photo: Marilyn Dominguez
- For full and half marathon runners, the pre-race activities were a welcomed distraction from the 13.1 or 26.2 miles up ahead. One way to get the ladies inspired was the VIP unveiling of the Tiffany's finisher's necklace. If you finish the marathon, you will get the stunning trinket to take home. Photo: Marilyn Dominguez
- As you can imagine, the charitable cause, the Tiffany's necklace, and incredible event would be enough to send anyone running through the San Francisco hills for miles on end.The course featured some steep climbs with rewarding views that calmed even our worst marathon fears. - From Union Square over 22,000 runners took off at 7 a.m. in the morning to reach their coveted destination, the Finisher's Village! On the way, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, piers, storefronts, beautiful mansions and more paved the way. Photo: Marilyn Dominguez
- The breathtaking scenes were enough to slow down a few participants for some photos. Who could blame them? You're in San Francisco, baby! Photo: Marilyn Dominguez
- As the course drew near the Finisher's Village, you could see the rolling waves from the beach and hear the thumping music. Even better was the downward run that was a sure bet to help you pick up your pace. Photo: Marilyn Dominguez
- FINALLY!!! Once you cross, or crawl, through the finish line, you are rewarded with food, entertainment, shopping, and more. Most importantly, though, were the local firemen dressed in tuxedos waiting to hand you your Tiffany's necklace in it's trademark robin's egg blue box. Photo: Marilyn Dominguez
- Every year the pendant for the Tiffany's necklace is updated and the latest was simple tribute to the participants. The front of the charm said 'NWM'with the Nike swoosh representing the Nike Women's Marathon. The back celebrated this year's slogan, 'I Run To Be,' and allowed finishers to make the necklace their own with an engraving.Simply put, truly an unforgettable experience. Photo: Marilyn Dominguez
